EduCamp 2008: A BarCamp focussing on Education

Currently the use of social software, e.g. weblogs, podcasts, wikis, is much discussed in the context of education at schools, universities or companies. At a time of a raising amount of information it seems to be necessary, to be connected with other people and to exchange the knowledge so everyone is up to date and can open up additional knowledge resources which can help to accomplish given challenges.

Continuing the discussion about the education trend the second educamp about “Teaching and Learning 2.0″ is organized on 10th to 12th of October 2008. Everyone who is interested in that education development is sincerely invited to come to the Erwin-Schrödinger-Centre at Humboldt University in Berlin. This building is featured with modern seminar rooms, an audimax and a big lounge area.

Main topics of the coming educamp are “Corporate Learning 2.0″ and “E-learning in universities”. Other planned subjects are, e.g. “E-Portfolios” or “Digital games and virtual worlds” in education. Based on the barcamp-concept, everyone is requested to bring an own issue along, which should be discussed.

More seats, T-shirts and Tags

Since tonight there is an extra of 100 seats available for our Welcome Party, the Night of the BarCamp and the main events on Saturday and Sunday. Our “internationals list” remains at a maximum of 100 seats reserved for visitors coming from abroad. Every one of the “next 100” on our waiting list has been upgraded automatically and should now appear in the list of attendees. All members are advised to check out the registration page to find out about their current status of registration.

To reduce this BarCamp’s no show rate, we strongly request all our members to keep their status of attendance up to date. Those who are not able to visit BarCamp Berlin 3 may select “I won’t come” in the corresponding list. By doing this you give a chance of attending to those waiting for a free seat.

We’re going to order the BarCamp T-shirts within the next week. So everybody is asked to check the T-shirt topic added to everyone’s profile questions. Members can choose between different sizes for men and women. If you don’t wish to receive a BarCamp T-Shirt, please select “no T-shirt”. Additionally every member should check the tags stated on the profile. Only the first three tags (separated by comma) will appear on the printed name badge.

What next?

Among other things pl0gcast #8 is dealing with a simple question: “What to talk about at BarCamp?”. As you might already know, there are no spectators but only participants. There are many ways to participate such as by
